DGD were delighted to join forces with the people of Limerick for the biggest one day clean up ever staged in Ireland. The event which took place on Good Friday, saw over 10,000 volunteers suit up in their hi-vis jackets and gloves, ready to help clean up their communities. The Irish Rugby Captain, Paul O’Connell lead the charge along side AP McCoy and JP MacManus to mark this fantastic event. Special appearances from Munster’s Conor Murray and CJ Stander were also largely welcomed by the public as they too played their part in this clean-up.
Our guys were out in force early Friday morning for the tidy up of Raheen Industrial Estate. After a vast amount businesses so willingly to help out, the residents of this estate can now confidently say Raheen is looking better than ever. Everyone in DGD agreed, that Team Limerick Clean-up should be continued annually and that we hope it inspires other counties around Ireland to follow suit.
Joe Cleary, of Mr. Binman, said they expected to collect around 40,000 bags of rubbish by the end of the day. He also stated ‘we are fairly confident that Limerick will be the tidiest county in Ireland come Saturday morning.’
Nothing but positivity came as a result of this project as it showed a huge pride of place that the people of Limerick have in their community.
